Project Description
Recruiting for new arts and community Boards for the Sunshine Coast Council
> THE CONTEXT
The Sunshine Coast Council aims to be Australia’s most sustainable region, taking a triple bottom line approach to sustainability, governance and community. For Council, the soul of the community is a flourishing arts ecology. To support this Positive Solutions was engaged to assist with the recruitment and induction of a number of Boards and committees, providing a high level of specialist expertise in support of Council’s arts and community programs.
> OUR APPROACH
For all projects, Positive Solutions designed and implemented effective recruitment campaigns. Each was targeted to the needs and direction of the specific Board or committee, and each included advertising, networking and an application and interview process. Induction processes were designed and facilitated to ensure effective and successful start-up for each board.
> THE BRIEF
Positive Solutions was engaged to recruit the founding members of a new Sunshine Coast Arts Foundation Board. The Foundation is independent from Council, encouraging a regional culture of arts philanthropy.
Positive Solutions also assisted with the recruitment and induction for the Sunshine Coast Arts Advisory Board (SCAAB), whose initial work included the development of the Sunshine Coast Arts Plan 2018-2038. We facilitated a national and local recruitment campaign, and induction of four Board members, including the Chair position.
Building on this and other previous work for the Sunshine Coast Council, we were engaged to assist with the recruitment and induction of the inaugural members of the Community Strategy Leadership Group, bringing together key partners in the implementation of the Community Strategy 2019-2041.
> THE RESULT
The Sunshine Coast Arts Foundation was launched in 2020, and now actively supports the development of the arts on the Sunshine Coast.
The Community Strategy Leadership Group was also launched in 2020, representing the community across a range of interests and backgrounds.
New Board Members for the Arts Advisory Board were recruited and inducted, bringing a broad understanding of government and philanthropic investment and regional arts knowledge.
